The upcoming CD "RAGMAKAM" is now in the mastering and graphic design process and should be going to the printers before Christmas. The music on this CD is based on the idea that the North Indian RAGA system is highly compatible with the Turkish MAKAM system. On this CD I am playing (aside from AFRO-BASS) only the RAGMAKAMTAR(version3) which I designed and build myself - in 2006/7 in the workshop of FARUK TURUNZ in Istanbul - with great help and inspiration from Faruk and his warm-hearted team. The ragmakamtar is a double-neck fretless guitar with sympathetic strings - the lower neck is inspired by the oud, and the upper neck - a sarod. The CD was recording mostly in Istanbul - 2008... and features one of the world's finest tabla maestros: Sri Partha Mukherjee.
