Our hero--a crashed rocket pilot named "Fred Rogers", no joke--has washed up on the shores of Blood Island, which is inhabited only by zaftig women in large hairpieces. By day, he is forced to work while being prodded with sharp sticks. By night, he is given a different woman to make love to. Here, he succumbs to the catchy theme song of the film as the Love Goddess Aphrodite (mispronounced as "afro-dyt" by everyone in the film) and her maidens dance around their giant dry-ice hot tub. A kitsch masterpiece financed by the owner of the largest drive-in movie theater in the world (13 screens, in Florida). This film is public domain.

African Theme Song - Fans Around the World Are Joining Together to Make a Difference for the Families and Children Living in Africa. Why would I care? Growing up in a rural community, I attended school in a community in which 100% of the members were Caucasian. My grandparents were kind, hard-working, morally upright Lutherans. However, it is my belief that 'we were taught to believe' that, somehow, racism was an acceptable way of life. In college, I witnessed at least one instance of racial discrimination and I'll never forget 'how I felt' and how helpless that I felt in my ability to change the world. An Afro-American friend of mine had acquired a new roommate living off campus. This room mate was an extremely kind and caring individual. She was a Caucasian individual probably coming from an affluent family. I went to visit her on several occasions and during one visit, I was watching her iron clothing. A large basket of clothing was placed by the ironing board and she worked diligently to finish the task. We continued visiting and then, she commented that her room mate would get angry if she didn't finish the ironing. "That's odd!", I thought. Then, she confided that she had offered to iron clothing on one occasion, and from that point on, she felt pressured in to ironing 'all of this room mate's clothing' on a daily basis. "Does she ...

I had seen him around at a few parties. He's a local celebrity on the LA scene. He always stood out with his big glasses, large stature, and fashion that seemed to be a cross between Old school Hip Hop and Prep. A response to some of the less trollish questions and comments I've been getting lately: 1) All people are racists, just those who aren't blatant are "in the closet" about it. - This is like a defense mechanism that otherwise decent people with mildly racist tendencies tell themselves to not feel bad. Truth is it's bullshit, you cannot assume that everyone has the same outdated 18th century ideas about race and entitlement that you do. 2) Affirmative action programs are inherently racist, and that makes me a racist for supporting them. - The problem here is that disparities drawn along racial lines do exist in our society, it's naive to think they don't. Using college admittance as an example, rich people with bad grades seem to have no problem getting into prestigious schools without much of a problem, while poor people with great grades do not. Affirmative action type programs may not be the best solution, but until we come up with a better way to even the playing field it's all we have. 3) All races are different, and thus should not be treated equally. - Thus the logic goes that some races of people are inherently superior to others, and this can be measured in some cases, such as in IQ levels. I do agree that all races are different, in the same way that people within the same race are different. People are not born equally. Some are naturally smarter, stronger, more creative, etc. Thus not only does one find wildly differing iqs depending on race, you'll also find ...

After graduating high school and attending college, the call to Dj was stronger than ever and once again bringing him to the world of lost parties, after hours, and raves. Sparked by this new found life in Chicagos music scene Andre Harris was determined to be deeply involved. In 1993, he earned a Friday night residency at Club Medusas, where he was recognized for his skill and knowledge of the soulful harder side of house music. It wasnt long before patrons and employees started getting him guest appearances at various venues around the city like Red Dog, Neo, Cairo, and Smart Bar to name a few, all while still promoting his own events. In 1996 Andre earned another residency at Club Elixir on Friday nights. Yet this was not enough, Andre was ready to produce music so in 1997 his first project I Cant Take It/Aint it a Groove was released on Cajual Records, receiving good press in Mix Magazine. This single was licensed for the Taste of Cajual mix CD mixed by friend and DJ Mark Grant. In 1998 Pecking Peace/Lifted was also released on Cajual Records to rave reviews in Mix Magazine & XLR8R Magazine. That year would prove to be a good year for Andre Harris: with two weekly club residencies, many guest appearances around Chicago, the Chicago Tribune naming his Friday night gig at Elixir one the Hottest nights in the City of Chicago, and Mix Magazine naming Andre as one of the Hardest working men in House Music. While working at Elixir and gaining a new residency at Spy Bar ...

This is a tutorial on how to do finger coils. This style serves as an awesome protective style due to not having to manipulate or style the hair for 2-3 weeks. Some people use a rattail comb; however, I find the finger method to be quicker and easier as you don't have the comb getting in the way or becoming tangled in the hair. First, I cowashed and applied Afro Detangler Leave-in Condtioner. Afterwards, I parted the hair into sections using just my fingers and applied Kinky Curly Curling Custard to each section. Finally, I coiled the hair around my fingers. If the coils are too large, simply split them down the middle and make two (or multiple) coils out of the large one. After I finished coiling the hair, I applied some Black Queen Olive Oil Sheen Spray. I recommend wearing a satin cap to bed or sleeping on a satin pillow case. I will wear this style for 5-7 days and then split them and wear my hair in a coil-out for another week; thus, giving me approximately two weeks of protective styling. I used the Kinky Curly Curling Custard because it was what I had on hand. This style comes out just as good using conditioner only. The trick is to be sure to use a generous amount of conditioner which is also beneficial because it allows the hair to stay conditioned while wearing the coils.

Poverty, inequality and unemployment have all dropped, while health, education and living standards have seen a commensurate rise. The international mainstream media has focused predominantly on Venezuelas controversial leader, President Hugo Chavez, who has routinely been in the headlines. Dance the Body Music (1976) - Osibisa Credit for uploding this beautiful song on the Net should go to Marina (nyrainbow4), and I can see many people copying this on to different websites. No where (the entire Internet sites) one will find this particular video song. I was looking forward to see the video of this particular song for quite a long time. I actually wanted to get the feeling of how a live performance of this song will be, and after seeing this it exceeds above average expectations something like WOW category. Thanks Marina for uploding it. Here on my channel I am trying to give a brief description about Osibisa along with this song Dance the Body Music. Osibisa is a British Afro-pop band, founded in London in 1969 by four expatriate African and three Caribbean musicians. Osibisa were one of the first African bands to become widely popular, leading to claims of founding World Music. In Ghana in the 1950s, Teddy Osei (saxophone) and Sol Amarfio (drums) played in a highlife band called The Star Gazers. They left to form The Comets, with Osei's brother Mac Tontoh on trumpet, and scored a hit in West Africa with their 1958 song "Pete Pete." In 1962 Osei moved to London to study music on a scholarship from the Ghanaian government. In 1964 he formed Cat's Paw, an early "world music" band that combined highlife, rock and soul. In 1969 he persuaded Amarfio and Tontoh to join him in London, and Osibisa was born. Joining them in the first incarnation were Grenadian ...

Yolanda Be Cool - Afro Nuts Just in time for Summer somewhere comes AFRO NUTS, Yolanda Be Cool's ode to what they like to call party tech. Inspired by the midgets, hula hoops, african rhythms, carnivale and free love, ybc's first release on Sweat is a conga house joint with an unlikely, but very on, twist. A clavinet that screams good times and promises dancefloor love. This is Chic 09 Stylee. But if the original is not for you, sweat not. Santa comes correct with this remix package. First up is Sound Pellegrino's Douster. This mix blew our minds. Amazingly large. Amazingly good. It will "blow your speakers." Not to be outdone, Edu K, the man that has excelled in more genres than a skitzophrenic has had personalities, triple somersaults out of fidget and lands perfectly in tribal tech land. The man is a magician and this is his best work yet (wethinks). Then last, but mos def not least comes Sweat It Out's darling, rising star or just plain madly talented DCUP, who drops a 120 bpm nu disco party jam that will make you feel cool just listening to it. Oh.....and introducing his "ultra ego," DCUP Hi Beams, for in his words, he couldn't help but want to bang his chest when he heard the afr-eekin vox popping, so he dropped us the DCUP Hi Beams mix. Director:Raj N. Sippy Writers:Vinay Shukla (dialogue) Jyoti Swaroop (screenplay) Release Date:17 February 1984 (India) Importance of 1955 The first large-scale Asian-African or Afro-Asian Conference—also known as the Bandung Conference—was a meeting of Asian and African states, most of which were newly independent, which took place on April 18-24, 1955 in Bandung, Indonesia. The conference was organized by Indonesia, Burma, Pakistan, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and India and was coordinated by Ruslan Abdulgani, secretary general of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference reflected what they regarded as a reluctance by the Western powers to consult with them on decisions affecting Asia in a setting of Cold War tensions; their concern over tension between the People's Republic of China and the United States; their desire to lay firmer foundations for China's peace relations with themselves and the West; their opposition to colonialism, especially French influence in North Africa and French colonial rule in Algeria; and Indonesia's desire to promote its case in the dispute with the Netherlands over western New Guinea (Irian Barat). Soekarno, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, portrayed himself as the leader of this group of nations, naming it NEFOS (Newly Emerging Forces).[1] Major debate centered around the question of whether Soviet policies in Eastern Europe and Central Asia should be censured along with Western colonialism. The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 several months after its release. However, "Fergalicious" managed to top the Pop 100 chart and spent fourteen weeks in the top ten of the Hot 100. "Fergalicious" was extremely successful as a digital song. In fact, it's one of the very few tracks which have been certified 2x platinum in the US, thanks to the heavy downloads. This achievement was very easy as, in January 2007, it sold 295000 downloads in a single week, being immediately certified platinum and holding the record for the most downloaded song in a single week (which has since been broken by Flo Rida's "Low"). As of August 2008, "Fergalicious" has been downloaded for over 2740000 times in the US only, being in the Top 10 of the most downloaded songs in the US history. "Fergalicious" was not released in the UK or Ireland in 2006 but was later released as a double A side with "Clumsy" in October 2007. The song heavily samples "Give It All You Got" by Afro-Rican and "Supersonic" by JJ Fad.[3] It also features elements from "Night Train" by James Brown and "It's More Fun to Compute" by Kraftwerk (both sampled in "Give It All You Got"). The riff at the opening of the song and featured throughout is from Dominic Frontiere's theme music for the 60's TV show The Rat Patrol. will.i.am's opening line is an interpolation of the opening line of 2 Live Crew's "Throw The D." The word "Fergalicious" is a portmanteau of the words 'Fergie' and 'delicious'. Spelling is a large part ...

The University of Tennessee at Martin percussion ensemble (Dr. Julie Hill, Director) perform some samba reggae rhythm samples from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. A fusion of samba and reggae, this style emerged in the 1970s in the heavily infused Afro-Brazilian city of Salvador alongside a resurgence in black awareness inspired by the influence of artists like Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff. The result is an infectious groove that fills the mind and body with an insatiable primal energy. Since its beginning, a focus on new political consciousness and social reality has developed. Blocos Afros (Afro Blocks) have formed throughout Salvador and have made this music a source of pride for its residents. Many of these Blocos Afros are dedicated to social transformation through music. The city of Salvador is eighty percent black with a large population of homeless children. Many of these children are adopted by the Blocos Afros and given food and clothing, but also taught to play percussion instruments thereby gaining confidence, pride, and the knowledge that through hard work and practice, they may choose their own path.

Yeah! This event was mad! I dressed up as a hunter from the game Left 4 Dead and just jumped on my friend randomly sometimes in the city. Poor him :D More videos will be up when i have the time. Stockholm Zombie Walk facebook group: www.facebook.com About Zombies (source Wikipedia): A zombie is a creature that appears in folklore and popular culture typically as a reanimated corpse or a mindless human being. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the people being controlled as laborers by a powerful sorcerer. Zombies became a popular device in modern horror fiction, largely because of the success of George A. Romero's 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. There are several possible etymologies of the word zombie. One possible origin is jumbie, the West Indian term for "ghost". Another is nzambi, the Kongo word meaning "spirit of a dead person." According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word entered English circa 1871 and is derived from the Louisiana Creole or Haitian Creole zonbi, which, in turn, is of Bantu origin. A zonbi is a person who is believed to have died and been brought back to life without speech or free will. It is akin to the Kimbundu nzúmbe ghost. Modern zombies, as portrayed in books, films, games, and haunted attractions, are different from both voodoo zombies and those of folklore. Modern zombies are typically depicted in popular culture as mindless, unfeeling monsters with a hunger for ...

UNESCO: Representative List (2008) URL: www.unesco.org Description: The dance, song and drumming style known as Tumba Francesa (French Drum) was brought to Cuba by Haitian slaves who were resettled in the islands eastern regions following the unrest in Haiti during the 1790s. It embodies one of the oldest and most tangible links to the Afro-Haitian heritage of Cubas Oriente province and developed from an eighteenth- century fusion of music from Dahomey in West Africa and traditional French dances. After Cubas abolition of slavery in 1886 and the resulting migration of former slaves to urban areas in search of work, Tumba Francesa societies emerged in several cities. Tumba Francesa performances generally open with a solo in Spanish or French patois by a lead singer, the composé. Following the composés cue, the catá, a large wooden idiophone, bursts into a pulsating beat enhanced by three drums known as tumbas. These hand-played instruments, similar to modern conga drums, are crafted from a single piece of hollowed wood and decorated with carved and painted motifs. The dances are performed under the direction of the Mayor de Plaza. The predominately female chorus singers and dancers wear long colonial-era dresses with West African kerchiefs and brandish colourful scarves. The singers keep rhythm with metal rattles or chachás. Performances consisting of a series of 30- minute songs and dances generally last well into the night. Today, only two of the many dance styles ...

The Many Faces Of Michael Jackson, RIP Music used in video: ''Instrumentals-Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal Instrumentals - Michael Jackson - Thriller (Instrumental) Michael Jackson - Billie Jean (Instrumental)'' tribute Young Michael Jackson had a million schoolgirls swooning at his pretty-boy looks, But as a boy, his father teased him for his large, flat nose. And so Michael decided to do something about it. He first changes to Jacko's appearance were subtle. During the Off The Wall/Thriller period, the nose he hated so much and which his father regularly mocked - was ever-so-slightly narrowed, His eyebrows were subtly shaped too. Some said he was ashamed of his Afro-American heritage But this was shrugged off. Sexy Michael still had a smile to melt the coldest heart, And face masks were a long, long way off. Jacko's hoardes of screaming, female fans didn't seem to mind the minor changes to his appearance, By the late eighties, Michael's nose had been narrowed again...And permanent eyeliner was tattooed around his eyes. Screener for POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS: Murder in New York: Malcolm X and the birth of Afro-Americanism available from www.artfilms.com.au. It is in Omaha, Nebraska, that Malcolm Little is born in 1925 as the son of a Baptist minister and a West Indian mother. Malcolm is six years old when his father dies and his mother is confined to a psychiatric hospital. He grows up in different reformatories and, as a teenager, later as a young men, he very early comes into conflict with the law. In prison, he assigns himself an ambitious general education program and succeeds in catching up with the lost years. He also learns about, and is very impressed with the theses of the self-proclaimed prophet of the Islam, Elijah Muhammed, leader of the organisation Nation of the Islam, a then small religious group. When he leaves prison after six years, he integrates this movement and quickly becomes its number two. Whilst in the public arena, the Nation of Islam is undoubtedly the best supporter of the brilliant speaker he is, but the organisation will also become his worst enemy when later on, he distances himself from the doubtful methods of the prophet. In his short public career, Malcolm has given pride to the black man. Very early on, he abandons Little that he considers to be his slavery name and has taken the one of Malcolm X since, the letter X symbolising his lost African name. With this gesture, Malcolm X rejects the past and re-connects black Americans to their African roots. In ...

Changing paternalistic attitudes toward Africans read pages 405 and 406 "The Image of Africa: British ideas and action, 1780-1850, Volume 2" By Philip D. Curtin pages books.google.com Ironically, Anti-Islamic attitudes also lead some scholars to take African agency into account. Perry Noble did see paganism as inferior to Islam but it rises little and falls short. Some scholars attributed Sudanese Civilization to a racial superiority of certain ethnic groups rather than religion "The redemption of Africa" By Frederic Perry Noble books.google.com "Whatever Islam may have done for the Negro was in being, not the initial impulse for his advance, but the reinforcement of his native faculties. Even in Sudan it has merely aided, not created, his capacity for progress. But "Islam is a reform which has stifled all other reforms. It has chained every people which has accepted it to a certain stage of moral and political growth". The sterility and unprogressiveness of Negro civilizations, Negro states, are as much due to the paralyzing death=grip of Islam as to nature's foreclosure of his intellectual powers when she mortgages the growth of his brain after puberty." books.google.com "Of the group of Negro languages centering upon Lake Chad, the Hausa has become the most popular, and has traveled farthest. Through large districts on both sides of the Binwe and Niger rivers it is invaluable as the circulating medium of thought. In extent of usefulness it surpasses all other single ...

Some sections of the media and SIOE, EDF and BNP blogs and You Tube trolls falsely describe the Anti-Fascists who defended Harrow Mosque from the EDF on 11 Sept 2009 as mostly or exclusively Muslim radicals. Hundreds of people who supported the Anti-EDF protest were (like me) ordinary white locals, as well as trades unionists (from GMB, Unite, PCI, UCU and NUT), London Transport workers, Green Party and Labour activists, the Asian feminist group Southall Black Sisters (who actively campaign against extremist Islam), inter-faith campaigners and even a couple of local Tory councillors! Large groups of black, white, Asian and racially-mixed kids from local schools like Whitmore, Bentley Wood and Cardinal Wiseman took part, and we saw Afro-Carribean, Turkish, Somali, Chinese and Asians (known to us as local Sikhs, Muslims, Parsis and Hindus) among the Anti-Fascists. Harrow Mosque stewards and Muslim elders circulated e-mails, leaflets and text messages appealing for calm, and you probably won't read in the media that Harrow Mosque stewards personally intervened to STOP the handful of fired-up youngsters who briefly chucked stuff at the police. THIS VIDEO shows young Muslim men condemning the minority of trouble-makers, and stressing how much the Harrow Mosque protest had to do with things the media didn't show (people getting together, chatting and making simply friends), and voicing common-sense opinions on how British people opposed Fascism in WW2... www.youtube.com If ...
